Kanoo Museum Pendant Light Sculpture
Project type
Sculpture
Date
December 2024
Location
Bahrain
This pendant light sculpture is made up of ten hand-shaped glass forms, each one unique, suspended from the skylight above. The glass pieces, with their deep teal tint and scattered air bubbles, hang like glowing gemstones, catching and holding the light as it filters down through the space.
At the core of the installation are large, patterned metal discs that resemble cellular structures or lacework made of steel. These aren’t just decorative—they help reflect and scatter the light, casting soft shadows and creating a gentle, shifting glow on the surfaces below.
The whole piece is an exploration of transparency, weight, and material tension. The glass, though heavy, feels almost weightless suspended by fine cables, while the open metalwork allows light to move freely, bending and refracting through the textured surfaces. It’s a balance between structure and delicacy, solidity and air.
More than just a light fixture, this work turns the ceiling into a sculptural experience—something architectural, atmospheric, and alive with the changing light of day.
